Editing cars with animations

Post by STED3RZ »

Hi

I am looking to convert a vehicle into a police variant so I need to add lights etc.
The car I want to add lights to has suspension bones / animations so I know I have to import with slice to parts off because it will break the animation bones but how do I add lights onto the car if it is all one mesh? Do I do it as I normally would and add to the hierarchy of the car or do I have to dismiss the mesh and do it that way?

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks

add bone to "chassis" bone. attach lights geometry to .mesh object. assign newly-created bone onto vertices of lights geometry with Rigging\Influence\Paint tool in "Preset" mode.

Hi Oleg, ive never really done anything with slice to parts off or rigging. could you explain in more detail? or is there a guide / video to try and learn it?

I guess there are some videos, but I personally never made any (in particular, relative to GTA model editing). There were some relevant topics here on forum where I explained the process, but I can't say where exactly it is. may be googling or searching the forum directly can give a hand on the subject.

this one is for ped editing, but basic steps are generally the same:

and a lot of details on rigged suspension is here:
