Shooting glass causing game to crash

Post by tavvun »

I made some edits to the premier to turn it into a police car in GTA IV, during which I never even touched the windows. When I exported the model back into IV, I discovered that shooting the windows causes the game to immediately crash, as soon as you left click. It only happens on the windscreens, and windows on the door. I am still able to shoot out the headlights, taillights, and the glass on the lightbar.

Additionally, if I simply crash the car or smash the window when trying to steal it, the windows will break just fine. It's just shooting at them that seems to be a problem. I set the external state ID to 135 for the door glass, 137 for the rear windshield and 138 for the front windshield when I was trying to fix it, too, but that didn't work.

mess a bit with collision objects. I don't remember how this all was working in gta iv, but you should probably try to adjust collision objects shape to avoid them being flipped inside-out. it could happen on window collision volumes when vertices are shifted a little and cause some facets to face inward the body of collision object instead of facing outside.
