Hey guys.
So I've got a .GMT from a the gmotor2 game GTR2 in and I would like to reduce the polycount, I believe this is to do with the SubMesh / Weld tools but cannot figure out what to do exactly?

I doubt you can achieve good result in reducing polygons in ZModeler. It requires a sophisticated optimization tools that are available in 3D packages like 3dsMax or Maya.
The weld tool will distort geometry dramatically.
