model_hi.yft for the game is the highest resolution geometry model only. The actual game model (physics and hierarchy setup) comes from model.yft file.

So, in general, you should always import/export both files. When you import model_hi.yft and then model.yft files, they are assembled into the same hierarchy, so, for example, you will have one object "chassis", not two. The "chassis" object will have L0, L1, L2 geometry objects on it. When you export this scene to model_hi.yft, these "L0" geometries are exported. When you export model.yft, "L1"s and "L2"s are exported (plus collision and other required data). If you make changes in hierarchy (e.g. adding or removing some part), you need to update/export both model_hi and model.yft files.
