Erro in Export model tree

Post by wagad25 »

Hello, I have the error <ERROR> [dx11] when exporting a tree.
This is an old problem, previous versions of zmodeler didn't have this error.
Please help us.
I made all the export settings are correct. :(

When exporting painted parts, you must make sure that you set it to UV3.

Yes, I did that, but the error persists.
You can try to do it with any tree model and the error will happen.

Tree shader uses UV#2 and UV#3 for vertices unfolding (sprites) and animation. ZModeler does not support this.

But it always worked using UV#3.
The year 2019 and 2020 versions worked.
I have here several models of trees created with movements in zmodeler 3.
The ones I made in 2019 and 2020 work, but in the new version of zmodeler it doesn't work anymore.

Not only in the model set to 3, but also in the material.

And then create the mapping from UV2 to UV3 as well.

setting material's DETAIL2 to UV#3 will force the exporter create a model with 3 UV channels, but in game the uV#2 and uV#3 will give incorrect result. in case no changes were made to geometry and original data for uv#2 and #3 will get exported, the model might work fine, but what's the point to edit tree model if you change nothing? I don't see any...

You can convert material to "dual diffuse" if you need DETAIL2 slot.

Please do this test, open this file and export again to see.

Open materials browser, locate a material with shader "leaves" and set it's DETAIL2 texture's slot "Use UV Mapping:" to "Manual UV#3". It should work fine. At least I can see the test model exports with original 3 UV channels after this operation (52Kb original on import, 52Kb on export).

this is a "model\vegetation\tree_deciduous\tree_middle1.pmd" model.
not tested in game.

Please test it in the game, because here the file size is also correct, but in the game I have a dx 11 error

I can't test in game as I have no idea how to test particular vegetation model in game (just have no idea how to use game's editor as I don't mod the game).
Here's a screenshot of modified tree (it has incorrect material/texture as I don't have game updated and/or base unpacked, just because I don't mod the game and have only few test models unpacked). the exported model attached. may you test in game and tell me whether the error occurs?

I have moved vertices on a trunk so the edited model can be seen clearly in game.

Your model worked fine, could you make a short tutorial? What version is your game in?

import original tree model. locate a shader "leaves" and set "Manual UV#3" on "DETAIL2" texture slot there. Export with no thumbnail image. compare file size of PMG (original and yours, these should be the same).

I tested on the latest 3.2.1 with all updates installed.

we were able to edit the original tree, but creating a new mesh does not work.
Would there be any version of zmodeler from the beginning of 2021? This version worked perfectly.

what exactly does not work when you crate new mesh? In general, there should be no difference for ZModeler whether you export a newly-created model or an imported one.

The tree model has collapsed (to point) patches for greenery that game unrolls and animates in a tree shader. It uses data from UV#2 and UV#3 that I have no idea how to create. The old version likely did the same on export, so I'm not quite sure why current produces different model than the old one.
