How to make a UI completely from scratch?

Post by Nimit4 »

Hey,
Can somebody help me in making a UI COMPLETELY from scratch? I am asking this on behalf of my friend who's pretty experienced in Zmodeler but making a UI from scratch is difficult for him, I don't know either how to make one in Zmodeler. Any help @Oleg

Thanks.

Sorry for replying late, actually a month late. Totally forgot.

UI is basically a dashboard computer known as an "onboard computer". It is highly customizable and the modder can make it however they want it to. They display how much fuel is left, temperature etc in a digital screen.

There's a guide:

But it's really complicated and cannot be understood in an easy way.

in general, this is not related to ZModeler as you create dashboard computer as planar 2D template an the game renders elements onto it.

Here is such a mod from the author of the tutorial you mentioned:

https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=835709

It consist exclusively of *.mat, *.tobj and *.dds files, plus two *.sii definition files. No 3D model. So Oleg's hint is correct, this is not a Zmodeler job.

Unfortunately, the guy who did the tutorial, as well as this example mod, has left the SCS forum a while ago. Which means you are totally on your own.
