How to separate a shared vertex

Post by Tharn »

I'm trying to uv-map a body kit and I go on vertex mode to try to separate all lod parts of the rear bumper from the rest but there's a shared vertex that prevents me from separating the whole thing. I tried using the 'break' tool but nothing happens. I assume there's a better way to do it? or I'm using the break tool wrong.

You can't separate (detach or break) in UV mapper, as the vertex/point in UV mapper is referring to one vertex on an original geometry object (and it can have only one UV). To separate parts in UVMapper, you need to separate them in advance in any other view on original part. For example, use "Knife" tool or "Detach" tool (toggle off "enable drag" and "to new object" options in detach tool). Then use Edit UV tool again and this point will be split already.
