Specular color issue.

Post by GeorgieMoon »

I am continuing to have this problem even with updating to the newest Zmodeler version. The only way I was able to prevent this from happening was to export my model into blender and reset all the UV coordinates of the model (which results in a bunch of open edged vertices). This problem only appears on materials that utilize a normal map slot. The normals of the model are fine, I've tried calculating the normals and redoing the UVs in Zmodeler and nothing seems to solve it.

I opened my old file on the previous Zmodeler version and it is not present.

Without a normal map in the texture slot:

if you use normal-mapping, your object must have a uniform UV mapping in UV#1. Something like unwrapped surface or any other accurate mapping. Any bad mapping (like reset mapping, or mapping that produce a line or a point) will give incorrect lighting/reflection calculation in bump shader, because vertices tangents are calculated based on UV mapping of triangles.

I really don't understand what you mean "uniform mapping" this is what my current UVs look like. Even if I try mapping from XY viewpoints or unwrapping again I am still left with the same result.
I struggle with this problem on every part I convert to GTA.

Also any reason why this is suddenly showing so much on a model after switching to the new version?

may you send me your .z3d file with just one problematic object there? I'll take a look, as it is not the best option to keep guessing for the cause by looking at a set of screenshots.
