Car Windows Missing Textures

Post by onslaught »

Hello,

The back passenger Window of this model is missing a texture, I know which one it is but I'm unsure on how to properly apply it to the model, I've tried selecting the polygons, I've tried setting it to "Multiple Materials" and applying an additional texture, but as soon as I hit "Apply" it reverts.

The other windows all have multiple textures, which is why I'm trying to add a texture to this last window.

Example:
Driver Side: https://onslaught.ca/s/o0tgaAea.jpg
Passenger Side: https://onslaught.ca/s/rfyrh5yw.jpg

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you open the rear-right door with trainer and take a look from the inner side of the door? is the window/glass there? also, if you shot, do you see a glass-crash visual fx or sound fx?

Second, I would recommend to create a cube and assign mesh or paint material onto it. Then use modify\Attach tool to attach this cube to the "invisible" door glass. Thus, the glass object will contain a cube too (using materials that show up properly). Does this cube appear in game? The test would give an answer whether this is "material is invisible" issue or "the whole object is invisible" issue.

I believe you might have misunderstood what I meant, the window is there 100%, it's just not as dark as the rest because it doesn't have the same materials as the rest of the windows.

It is missing 1 Material, I am just trying to understand what the best way is to apply that material to the glass so is displayed properly.

Problem glass Materials: https://onslaught.ca/s/lo63yphn.png
All other windows: https://onslaught.ca/s/4733jbmx.png

As you can see the "Problem Glass" is missing a higlass material, I just want to know how to add that material to that glass.
When I try to change it to "Multiple Materials", it just resets when I hit apply.

you can assign desired material onto selected polygons. Select polygons that should use "higlass" material, open materials editor, then drag&drop "higlass" material onto the left side of materials browser where it says "Scene selection". Then hide selected polygons, so they are not affected by the next steps. Select other polygons and assign another material onto them.
If I'm not mistaken, all glasses use two materials, one with "vehicle_glass_inner" shader and another with "vehicle_glass". Game renders "inner" glass polygons first and then it renders "outer" side. Note, polygons in game are not double-sided, so to have inner- and outer-glass materials assigned together, you need to duplicate polygons of geometry and modify\Flip one portion of them (so one are facing the inner side and other are facing the outer side). Mind to assign proper shaders onto proper polygons ("vehicle_glass_inner" polygons are shifted toward interior a little).
