White taillights displaying red / yellow lighting.

It is hard to explain but im currently working on a Ford Mustang. The taillights are clear when they are off and red / yellow when emitting. I was told by Snit that their was a way using defuse or something similar but i haven't had any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

these are probably overbright. reduce red color component on vertices paint (surface -> paint [options: primary, Red] -> color [options, color = grey RGB something like 192,192,192], vertices level, paint with click and drag. Hide unnecessary objects/vertices before painting, so only taillights vertices are painted.

second, inspect vehicle_lightsemissive material for options by adjusting "Emissive" strength slider. or alternatively add user-defined option named "emissiveMultiplier" and specify a value of your choice in range 0 .. 20. and test in game. you can create a copy of material for taillights only, so other emissive vehicle lights are not affected by these settings.

Wait... are you trying to have clear tail lights when off, but lighting up a red?... some time ago I used clear light glass texture with about 50% transparency and behind it second copy of inside light colored emissive. When off front texture will keep it fairly clear, but it will light up colored, in your case red. This way you can also make Dual function lights similar to original tail lights, if front glass is also emissive, for example positional lights with blinker function

Edit: I'm just realizing I have something similar done on a modded brawle utilizing front blinkers into inner headlamps, its unlocked at gta5mods
