sometimes when i add a part from another car for example spoiler, the parts that are meant to match the primary colour of the car are green with dirt on them in game. Any idea why this is happening

the material setup on different versions on "vehicle_paint" shaders are different. If you grabbed some part from another vehicle, you should probably assign shaders from your own vehicle onto the newly-attached parts, as the imported part can try to pull up materials from original/source vehicle with its own textures (that are missing on your vehicle files). Beside reusing materials from your own vehicle on imported/attached parts, you might need to check whether object setup matches "vehicle_paint" needs. For example, some vehicle_paint shader uses UV#1 for dirt mapping and some shaders use UV#2 for dirt-mapping. And vice versa - on some shaders UV#2 is used for primary texture and UV#1 for dirt-mapping. Note, you can preview dirt/dust mapping in ZModeler by pressing associated buttons on Structure panel.
