Camera position (GTA IV)

Postby Algonquin_Hood » Tue May 24, 2016 8:31 am

Hello.
I have an issue with my newest creation. The camera is too close to the vehicle.

Also, how do I fix this strange texture on the metal parts?

Thanks in advance

camera position can be corrected by placing some dummy node far behind the trunk. the game will think it's an object and will not move camera that close.

concerning the metal panel - I suspect this is an environment reflection. use surface\normals\projection tool on this problematic part.

alternatively, it could be a material issue - in such a case try different material first, and/or you might need to enable and assign UV Mapping for UV channel #2. some materials require UV#2 to be available.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried both. When using the projection tool I saw the part changing shade, but ingame the issue was still there.
After that, I changed all the metal parts into paint2.
UV#2 mapping is included because of the mud mapping, I removed the mud texture but the problem still occurs.

I found the fix for it. It was on the detail2 normal texture, see upload 1 for more information

I noticed a thing that still bothers me and keeps me from releasing it.
Check the second upload and take a look at the bumpers. They look kinda flat and I think the Projection Tool is the cause of it.
How do I revert Projection Tool?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. You have to apply Surface\Normals\Calculate.
