Thanks for the help Oleg.

I tried loading the file using 3.0.6. and the problem was the same. It turned out to be a fault in the file, must have happened when Zmod CTD just after the update. Everything is working just fine now. :)

There were no updates related to rendering performance for ages. When you've downloaded a fresh version from the site, have you made correct settings for your rendering device at first run? You can check them on Settings...\Rendering page. Preferred settings are "Hardware@your_video_vendor" with/without antialiasing (set to 4 samples) and automatic caching.

All the updates I've made are mentioned in the very first post of this topic. The only technically related update is on opening of .z3d files, it let ZM use a slightly different loading method to reduce memory usage during open/save operations.

In general, you can download and install any zmodeler version (you can have multiple versions installed and activated in different folders, no problem on this) and you can compare performance of older version. If needed, here's the 3.0.6, so you can compare performance.

My copy of Zmodeler 3 went through an auto update last night and after I restarted the program something went wrong and immidiately it crashed. As it was very late I did nothing but now I can't use Zmod anymore. The program has become very "sluggish" og lagging, I have to wait around 30 seconds between actions now, meaning that when I move the mouse over one of the command buttons fx, I have to wait 30 seconds before I can click the button. I have already tried reinstalling with a full version download, but it has not helped my problem.

The size of the z3d file is 21.322KB.
When I load the file my file Zmodeler is using 52-59% cpu power and 317.668KB of memory

edit: I have just tried loading another file of 4000KB in size. This time no problems yet. I guess that zmodeler is requirering more ressources from the system after this update. Is there any way to revert to 3.0.7 before build 1041?

Is my pc simply not powerfull enough after the latest update? version 3.0.7 has been working flawlessly on my system before being updated to build 1041.

the question was about "memory usage" column in task manager. you can customize columns to show and the one with memory usage (I don't know its name in English windows version) will tell the memory usage of zmodeler3.exe process.

On the other side of the issue, what is the size of .z3d file you are trying to open?

My z3d/bak and autosave/bak was broken coz of out of memory.
But i was lucky that i have send a version to one of my friends.
When i open my z3d it use 24-26% of my cpu.

I will see if I can post a screenshot later. To answer your question no I had not used "Detach" in the uv mapper.

I don't think it's related to any specific tool as it’s stopped working on me using move tool, extrude tool, scale tool, ext ext. It’s more of a timed-out or after you’ve done a certain amount of changes. For me after I opened up a file and start working on it, it seems to be around the 10 to 15 changes then the Undo no longer works. It will work before those 10 to 15 changes, but not after.

Another note: I have my Undo set to 50 (ridicules, I know) and had it this way in Z2 with no issues.

Hope this helps

I think you could right. Last night I used everything. Move, Extrude, Scale you name the tool and I used it and after a set amount of time undo stopped working. Once it stops working all you have to do is save your work and then open it again and undo then works again, until a set amount of time where it stops again. What the set time is I do not know as of course you do not realize it has stopped working until you need it.

Just in case I do not get time later. Merry Christmas to all Zmod users.

When you see undo stop responding, open undo browser window and take a screenshot of the topmost entries there. Also, have you used "Detach" in uv mapper when it had happened?

Sorry to say I still get a problem with undo. It does not seem to be a problem with extrude either as today I was only uv-mapping, and when I went to undo something I had done wrong while detaching it would not undo

Luckily I had made a save just before the detach, so I was able to open the file at the point before detach where on testing undo worked again :? but 10 minutes later stopped again

8 vertices extruding, 7 extruded vertices scaling, 6 vertices undoing, IT........ all........works Fine!!! LOL! yes, I'm stupid.

Thanks Oleg, I'm back in happy extruding & undoing vertices mode.

My bad, extrude did worked on vertices level even thought it used the "extrude edges" logic in such a scenario. This behavior was restored, so you can extrude vertices again.

As it is pantomime season. Oh yes it did :D

I have always used it in vertex mode as well. Never used it in edge mode before.

I've tried both to update 3.0.6 via autoupdater and running the downloaded version in another folder. both works fine. upgrading requires license application of cause, so when you upgrade, install your license key and validate it; then restart.
After a few hours waiting it works, so problem solved.

Thanks anyway.

Hum, Its always worked in vertices mode in both Zmodeler 2 & Zmodeler 3, I've never used it any other way. I'll try edges mode.

Extrude never worked on vertices level. It needs either edges or polygons.

I have the same problem. Tried the update first and the extrude tool does nothing. Tried the direct download and get the same result. If however I change from vertex level to edge level then extrude works :o

The Extrude tool is there. I did try a new scene, created a cylinder, vertices mode, selected the end, clicked on extrude and tried to drag it out, nothing, it didn’t create a new set of vertices. Nothing in the Undo browser for Extrude tool.

I’ll try re-downloading the whole app later and see if that helps.

what do you mean by "no longer work" ? does "Extrude" appear in undo browser window once you apply extrusion tool?

If you see "Extrude" in undo browser window, then the tool has acted, even thought it's result might get messed. Let me know whether tool "acted" or not. Also, try a new scene and create primitive - try extrude on it first.

I updated my Z3 and now Extrude too no longer works. Do I need to un-install and re-download Z3?
